124 luxury vehicles dodged B1.8bn tariff | Bangkok Post: news

(Photo by Tawatchai Kemgumnerd)The Customs Department has found 124 imported luxury vehicles with under-declared prices, resulting in 1.8 billion baht in lost tax revenue. Customs officials recently finished tariff evaluation on the second lot covering 92 luxury vehicles and found the underpaid tax of 1.16 billion baht. DSI director-general Paisit Wongmuang said the DSI had impounded 160 luxury vehicles mostly from showrooms in Bangkok on May 18 and 24. The DSI would later charge five importers and dealers involved in the second lot.
